The News & Record has announced its Readers Choice Winners for 2011 and Open Space Cafe Theatre was named the Runner-Up in the Best Theatre Company category!
The 2nd Annual New Play Contest has selected “One Foot in the Gravy,” a comedy by Howard Kingkade, as its winner.
Open Space received over 60 submissions from across the United States and our panel of readers worked diligently to read and score each play over the last few months, leaving five finalists. These five remaining plays went through a final round of scoring and the submission by Mr. Kingkade, a resident of Columbia, SC, was ultimately chosen as the winning entry.
“One Foot in the Gravy” will be receive its world premier production the first weekend in November.

The 2nd Annual New Play Competition received over 60 submissions, and we are still in the process of reading and scoring all of the entries. As such, announcement of the winning play has been delayed until all entries can be processed.

Auditions for “The 39 Steps”, originally scheduled for July 31st & August 1st, will now be held on July 25th & July 26th @ 7:00pm at the Opem Space Cafe Theatre located at 4609 W Market St, Greensboro, NC 27407.
The director is seeking three males ages 20 and up and one female age 20 to 40. Should have a good sense of comedy and physical movement. Rehearsals start Aug 28; performances are Sept 29-October 9.
